Six Hours

We’re removing things and sending them to their respective manufacturer for rebuild. The windlass, which we use to raise our anchor chain and 66 pound anchor, took over six hours to remove…

This is why we are doing this now, so we don’t have to do it in some far off anchorage. Looks pretty tame, just have to remove these parts and drop the motor down below:

 

We used a puller to remove the capstan:

Then we tied together two different pullers to remove the lower friction plate. There will be no pictures of that mess.

Then we pried up the base plate. The instructions stated “once the base plate is removed, the shaft and motor should fall”, ya right.
