Anchored

We are back aboard and all is well. We left the marina just after 7:00 this morning and headed south in the 45 degree clear weather. We had a great trip down the ICW, we even got the sails up! We dropped the anchor eight hours later in Ft Pierce. After cleaning up the boat we put a small turkey in the oven, ate a great thanksgiving meal, and now we’re on the couch sliding into a nice food coma. Up early and heading south.

Heading out

Did I mention it was cold?

But we got the sail up and it was raining…raining sunshine!

Ready

Well the boat is ready but we’re not. We scrubbed the boat down, fired the engine, plotted a route, everything working perfectly, then we looked at each other and talked ourselves out of leaving…today. Even with beautiful weather and everything functioning perfectly it took all of 30 seconds to agree we were exhausted and not ready to leave. There is a cold front due to pass through here over the next two days bringing with it some really nasty weather. We’re going to stay put, get some rest, wait on weather, and work on…relaxing.

Sitting in the cockpit, beer/wine in hand, good night!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Quick Update

We’re almost ready. Just a few days away from departure, we are tying up loose ends. We are so busy we haven’t taken many pictures and the next update will be after we depart. Fuel and water are full, we have so much food aboard we don’t have space for it. The dinghy and motor are aboard and the house is so empty now it echoes! We are stashing spare parts today and making space to move aboard tomorrow. The weather has been widely varied here so we will depart when we have a decent window. Until then here are a few random pictures…

I put a new inline TDS meter on the watermaker so the water can be tested automatically:

Installed new backstay lines:

Scuba tanks mounted:

Load after load of food, fuel and parts:

The boat is sitting very low now, there’s about an inch of waterline left:

Tanya brought the dinghy across the river so we can haul it up:

Another Great Day

Well, this is exciting for us anyway…

Another great day and one step closer to departure! The generator is completely finished with new filters, zincs, oil change and exhaust system. We had a propane leak, that’s fixed. The head is gleaming. Our berth is back together. The saloon is cleared out, you can walk through it! Our v-berth cushion is repaired, and the car is loaded with things to move on the boat!!

Generator is like new. Oil change, muffler and new hose finished off today:

 1 generator

Propane leak in our locker was a loose fitting on the low pressure side of the regulator:

 1a propane

Head, gleaming:

2 head

We had a small bottle of laundry detergent that was left in the v-berth for the last year and it opened up. We were going to try and wash it out but decided to cut it out and install a new piece, it worked perfectly:

Another long but productive day. Tomorrow we start loading the boat!!
