Recap

I didn’t realize how long it has been since we last updated the website. That is until people start telling you exactly how long it’s been, and then you get voicemails asking when you’re going to update. Too funny, I didn’t know anyone read this. So I guess it’s been a while.

I’ve forgot a lot since the last update. Well we are not complaining about the weather I can tell you that!! The weather has been perfect with above average temps mainly in the mid 70’s to lower 80’s, heaven!!!

Well we left Daytona Beach and arrived in Titusville Florida, spent a few days on a mooring while we opened up the house. We found a nice marina 20 minutes from our house so we moved the boat from Titusville to Melbourne where we have been for the last month. We moved off the boat so we could work on it. Now we are finishing up the last of the projects and preparing to move aboard again.

In the interim we had a great Christmas. We decorated the house but spent Christmas at Tanya’s Aunt and Uncle’s house in Wilmington NC, Tanya’s Mother was there also which was great! We had a fantastic time and could not thank them enough! Once we returned we got busy on boat projects again and have been busy ever since.

Our Christmas tree!

Wouldn’t be Christmas without the Griswolds! Love that movie.

Christmas in Wilmington (couldn’t find any of the pictures with people in them, not sure what happened):

We have always wanted some palm trees in our yard so when we got back to Florida we went looking for a nursery. We found one with palm trees at half price:

We bought two Christmas palms, a pygmy date palm, and a bottle palm:

We love them. We’ll finish landscaping next summer.

Back to boat projects…We finally installed speakers in the cockpit. Next time we do an overnighter we will be able to enjoy some music! Not to mention blasting tunes while at anchor in the Bahamas.

Had to run wires from the stereo, through the boat and out to the cockpit.

We mounted the speakers up under the solar panels facing down into the cockpit. They sound fantastic!

We also installed new sail covers called stack packs, much easier to use. The covers stay on the boom and catch the sail like a taco shell. All we do is unzip the cover, raise the sail and when we are done, drop the sail and zip it up!!

Sewing them in the house:

We also made a dinghy cover:

Finished:

Right now we are trying to get the water maker installed and prepare for departure. We are leaving the marina on the 17th and will make our way south to West Palm Beach. We are planning to cross over to the Bahamas when the weather permits, cross the Bahama Banks and check in at Green Turtle Cay (key). We plan on spending some time bouncing through the Abacos, head down to Eleuthera then on to the Exumas. That is the plan anyway. We will update again in a few days.

We are back at home (in Florida), for now. We are taking care of a few boat projects and waiting for our new passports before we cross over to the Bahamas. Will update again in a few days once we get settled.

Anchored

We are anchored south of St Augustine across from Fort Matanzas. Internet is spotty at best so just going to post some pics.

Some pictures of Centre St. Fernandina Beach and homes on the walking tour. The town was really nice with an active main street:

Visitor Center in the old train station:

 “Oldest Saloon in Florida”

Some homes on the walking tour:

The entire downtown was lit up with Christmas lights. Nice tree at the waterfront:

Watching over the dinghy dock:

Sister’s Creek Bridge:

We came out of the ICW, crossed the St Johns River and back into the ICW. Traffic on the St Johns River:

A couple of homes along the ICW:

After eight hours we pulled off the ICW behind “Pine Island” and anchored for the night:

We anchored with a few other boats, enjoyed a beautiful sunset and a very quiet evening!
