The storm blew through last night and we came out unscathed! Glad we were in a harbor, I would not have wanted to deal with that (yet) out in the open ocean. It’s a beautiful sunny day, not too hot, so we are going to top off the water tanks and then go sight seeing around the island. We’re staying here one more night then heading for Onset MA. If the weather gets nasty we will put in at Cuttyhunk which is about half way between Block Island and Onset. Will post more pics later!
Revisited
Here are some pictures from our stops along the way.
While in Cape May we planned to leave at high tide, so did the Coast Guard. They closed the channel until this cutter got under way (we’re still working on taking pictures on a moving boat):
From Cape May NJ we went into Atlantic City:

We anchored waaaay down by that bridge:

Leaving Atlantic City at 0400!
From AC we turned North to New York. Here are some shots of the sunrise:
Once we rounded Sandy Hook we headed back South to Atlantic Highlands and picked up a mooring at the AH Yacht Club. This was a great stop deep in a man made harbor, really protected. We didn’t even need to use the dinghy because the mooring fee includes unlimited use of the yacht club launch. Very nice town, nice people, great place to stop!

We’ll upload some more pictures at a later date. Right now we are on a mooring at Block Island and there is a “wicked rippin” storm blowing through. Big trawler behind us dragged a mooring… we’re fine though!
Block Island RI
We made it safely into the pond at Block Island RI! There may be some bad weather coming so we are going to check the forecast before we decide to set out on our next leg. Wifi signal seems decent here so we will try to upload our pictures later today. You can check out our location on the map.
Mattituck NY
We anchored in Mattituck NY last night, another great place! We’re preparing to depart for Block Island in a few minutes! You should be able to see where we have been by clicking on “MAP” at the top of the page.
Long Island
We still have not found sufficient wifi to upload pictures but all is going well. We went through Hell Gate today, past Rikers Island and into Long Island Sound. We are currently moored in Port Washington just past the Merchant Marine Academy, beautiful place. We’re taking pictures along the way and will put them up as soon as we can.
