Departure Day

Everything seems to be in order (knock knock) for our departure today. Yesterday we motored down to the South Marina for fuel, checked all the fluids, topped off water, got ice and checked weather. Weather report is, hot, but we’ll have South winds so that will be nice, hopefully we will get the sails up.

Once we were back in our slip and finished with our “chores” we sat down for dinner. We had black bean salad, orzo salad, potato salad and burgers on the grill, all washed down with a Miller Lite, it was gooood!

And then we baked cookies and went to bed!

Updates

We’re not sure how often we’ll be able to update the site once underway. If we can find a wifi signal we will update but in the interim we have our cell phones. This morning we are busy readying the boat, getting fuel, topping off water, paying the bills and all those fun things! Talk with you soon!

A Friend

Solar and Head

…are done (for the trip North). The solar installation was a bear but we learned alot. Actually wiring the panels all the way down to the batteries was the easy part. Mounting the panels and getting them up on the davits was the challenge.

Everything works as advertised! After everything was wired we uncovered the panels for the first time, just before noon on a very cloudy and hazy day.

We also finished up the holding tank installation, it’s not pretty but it’s in and it’s functional with no leaks! We’ll make it look pretty when we get to Maine (which seems to be a new catch phrase for us!).

We’re off to get fuel this morning, weather permitting we will depart tomorrow! Lots of little things to take care of today…

Party

Our friends Doug and Tina had a going away party for us a couple of nights ago, it was a lot of fun! We are still waiting for people to email us the pictures but here are some shots of the cake(s):
